1. How we collect and use your personal information
We may collect and use personal information in the circumstances described below. If we need to collect or use information for a materially different purpose, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required by applicable law.
1.1 Registration, authentication, profiles, and device binding
(1) When you create or sign in to a CareLocate account, we may collect information such as your email address or mobile phone number, login credentials, nickname, avatar, region, and other account information needed to create and manage your account.
(2) When you create or manage a profile associated with a GPS device, we may collect information that you choose to provide about the device user, family member, dependent person, or pet. Depending on the type of device and service, this may include a name or nickname, profile image, relationship information, date of birth or age-related information, sex, pet type or breed, and other profile details required by the relevant feature.
(3) When you bind, activate, or manage a GPS device, we may collect device information such as device model, device ID, serial number, registration or activation code, ICCID, firmware version, online/offline status, battery level, network status, and the relationship between the device and one or more authorized accounts.
This information is used to associate the GPS device with the correct account, enable authorized family or caregiver access where supported, provide device services and software updates, and maintain the normal operation and security of the service.
1.2 Location and device-generated information
To provide GPS locating and related features, we may collect and process information generated by compatible devices and the CareLocate app, including:
Location information. This may include GPS coordinates, location timestamps, historical routes, geofence events, and location derived from GPS, mobile networks, base stations, Wi-Fi positioning, or other supported positioning technologies. Where a feature requires the location of your mobile phone, CareLocate may also request access to your phone's location with your permission.
Device status and alerts. This may include battery level, online/offline state, network status, SOS events, geofence alerts, low-battery alerts, device-removal alerts, and other notifications supported by the device.
Activity information. For devices that support activity features, this may include steps, activity duration, distance, estimated calorie consumption, movement data, rest time, or similar statistics generated by device sensors and algorithms. Such information is provided for informational purposes and should not be treated as a medical diagnosis.
Communication-related information. Where supported, CareLocate may process information necessary to enable calling, video calling, voice messaging, contact management, or SOS communication. The exact information processed depends on the device model and feature being used.
App and technical logs. This may include app operations, device connection status, error codes, crash logs, IP or network information, and diagnostic or security logs used to troubleshoot problems, improve service quality, and protect the service.
1.3 Security and legal compliance
To protect accounts, GPS devices, users, and system services, and to comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, we may process device identifiers, network information, authentication information, diagnostic logs, and security logs within the scope permitted by law.
1.4 When separate consent may not be required
Where permitted by applicable law, we may process personal information without separate consent when:
Processing is necessary to perform a contract or provide a service requested by you.
Processing is necessary to comply with legal obligations.
Processing is necessary to protect the life, health, safety, or property of a person in an emergency.
The information has been lawfully made public and is processed within a reasonable and lawful scope.
Another lawful basis applies under applicable law.
